Internship/Volunteering Opportunity at VPWA HQ:

VPWA is seeking to directly engage volunteers with skills in project development, fund raising, grant writing, marketing/promotion, monitoring and evaluation. VPWA attaches the spirit of volunteerism and community service in all our projects and we always want to work with people with enthusiasm who can critically and analytically think about societal problems to offer specific and real result oriented solutions. If you posses that capability then you can work with the Head of Projects at VPWA by applying to any of the positions below:
 
Requirements:
 
· At least age 18 (no maximum age limit);
· Good knowledge in English language
· Strong commitment to values and principles of volunteerism;
· Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
· Ability to adjust in difficult living conditions;
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Available Positions:
 
Project Development
 
Project Development is the bedrock of the work VPWA do to ensure community engagement and sustainability of the projects we implement. If you have the capacity to handle Project Management and Development roles in Conservation, Construction, Food Security & Agricultural, Research & Advocacy then you are an ideal candidate to apply for this position.
 
 
Fund raisers/Grant Writers
 
One major challenge for organizations in Africa is lack of funding. VPWA there welcome volunteers with experience in this area to work with us to raise the needed funds to meet our project priorities that benefits communities we serve. You could serve as an on-line or on-site volunteer. The role involves research on potential grant openings that aligns with the work of VPWA and apply. Approaching Corporations to align their CSRs with that of VPWA and support us to implement them is one key skill fund raisers should posses.
 
Marketing/Promotion
 
A major set back for organizations in Africa is getting their news, projects and information known to the people they serve. VPWA is overcoming all these challenges by using appropriate mediums through volunteers to get the message to the grassroots.
 
Event Organizers:
 
VPWA organizes community workshops, training, health outreach etc. We are noted widely for organizing annual Inter-Schools Quiz competitions and health outreach programs. We need people who have the skill in organizing various events inclusive listed above.
 
Administrative Assistants
 
Do you have administrative Skills? Not in the context of Western style but moderate African administrative practices. You can use Internet and MS Word and read proof documents? Take minutes of meetings? You could volunteer at VPWA Office as an administrative assistant.
 
Accounts and Finance
 
Do you have a skill in accounting and finance mostly related to non-profits? You can volunteer with VPWA  if you have the skill to work with us.

Accommodation:

 

Volunteers working on VPWA projects in Accra live in our house in Pokuase (north of Accra).  Depending on number of volunteers at a time, a volunteer might share room with another person. Maximum of 2-3 persons per room is allowed. Couples are advice to inform us in advance. The rooms have comfortable beds with pillows so no need to bring sleeping bags. The volunteers’ apartment has kitchen with fridge. Water closet and shower facility available.

VPWA do not charge to provide below service 

· Application processing, interviews, pre-departure information and administrative works prior to arrival.

· Placement

. 24/7 Emergency support.

· Orientation prior to beginning of work

. Airport pick-up only


Please note below services might be offered base on availability

· Basic TWI language orientation

· Mobile phone SIM card number sent to you so you can inform family and friend’s your number before arriving in Ghana.

· Use of Internet at VPWA operational Head office.

· Certificate of Recognition for hardworking volunteers and opportunity to serve as VPWA ambassador in your city, college or community.

Ghana is one of the safest countries in Africa. In the Global Peace Index it is ranked above both the United Kingdom and the US. It is the perfect introduction for first time volunteers to Africa. It has a democratic electoral process and a stable economy. Our team will ensure your health and safety at all times and you'll have emergency support 24/7.

Flights

Volunteers must arrange their own flights to Accra Airport (ACC). Please be aware that you should communicate your arrival date and time to Volunteer Coordinator. The following airlines fly into Accra:

Visa

You must obtain a volunteer visa for travel to Ghana. Once you have secured your place in the project and made deposit. We will send you a letter confirming your placement for your visa application.
