VPWA has placements available in Ghana for volunteers with an interest and experience in the legal system and human rights. Volunteers will gain practical experience in the administration of law and human rights at a grass roots level in a developing country. Based on your background and experience, you shall be allocated a placement within the human rights office. This placement will be designed to make use of your skills, as well as provide you with an opportunity to learn.

Legal Assistant
We are looking for a lawyer, law graduate, law student or professional in the human rights field who can help a community human rights organisation in the drafting of processes, the writing of statements, the interviewing victims and accused, and the organisation of human rights awareness campaigns.

Mediator
Most non criminal issues are resolved at the Human Rights and Administration office. These are mostly marital cases. We need a skilled mediator or someone who is aspiring to learn first hand how the mediation works.

Accommodation: Volunteers working on VPWA projects live in Greater Accra and Eastern Region. Please confirm your project location with our coordinator. Volunteers live in shared rooms. Couples are adviced to inform us if they wish to share a room in advance. The rooms have comfortable beds with pillows and covers, so there is no need to bring sleeping bags. The volunteer apartment has a kitchen with fridge, as well as toilet and shower facilities. VPWA do not charge to provide below service - Application processing, interviews, pre-departure information and administrative works prior to arrival.
