Human Rights,Legal and Justice

VPWA is offering an opportunity for diverse individuals and groups to engage in practical field service experience in Human Rights

and it administration of justice issues at the grass root level in a developing country (Ghana). Base on your application, you shall be allocated to work at the Human Rights office in a capacity that brings the best in you or offer you an opportunity to learn.

 

Requirements:

· At least age 18 (no maximum age limit);
· Good knowledge in English language
· Strong commitment to values and principles of volunteerism;
· Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
· Ability to adjust in difficult living conditions;
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Legal Assistant

 

Are you a lawyer, law graduate, law student or professional in the Human Rights field who want to spend sometime volunteering to assist a community Human Rights organization in drafting processes? Writing statement of parties? Interviewing victims and accuse? Organizing Human Rights Awareness?

Assistant Bailiff:

 

A bailiff is basically in charge of executing orders and serving processes on parties. If you are interested in working as an assistant bailiff, you are invited to apply.

Mediator

 

At Human Rights and Administration office, most non criminal related issues are resolved at the centre. These are mostly marital cases. Do you have a skill in mediation or aspire to learn at first hand how mediation process takes place? We have an opportunity.

Accommodation:

 

Volunteers working on VPWA projects in Accra lives in our house in Pokuase (north of Accra). Depending on number of volunteers at a time, a volunteer might share room with another person. Maximum of 2 persons per room is allowed. Couples are advice to inform us in advance. The rooms have comfortable beds with pillows so no need to bring sleeping bags. The volunteer apartment has kitchen with fridge. Toilet and shower facility available.

Flights

Volunteers must arrange their own flights to Accra Airport (ACC). Please be aware that you should communicate your arrival date and time to Volunteer Coordinator. The following airlines fly into Accra:

Visa

You must obtain a volunteer visa for travel to Ghana. Once you have secured your place in the project and made deposit. We will send you a letter confirming your placement for your visa application.
