INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY        

VPWA in October 2009 launched a project to design websites to help micro enterprises in Ghana attained Internet presence in an initiative entitled, (Website for All). The program will be sponsored by VPWA and it shall organize Web design Volunteers from around the world to come to Ghana and participate.  This is our effort to help the ordinary small enterprise in Africa have a presence on the global stage and to improve their market share and alleviate poverty.

Volunteers can start applying to participate in the project from October 2009. Volunteers will be working from the offices of VPWA.  Below enlist opportunities available in Ghana under ICT

Available Positions

Requirements

· At least age 18 (no maximum age limit);
· Good knowledge in English language
· Strong commitment to values and principles of volunteerism;
· Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
· Ability to adjust in difficult living conditions

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

. Experience in Web designing and related fields of expertise as stated in the positions available on this project

Accommodation:

Volunteers working on VPWA projects in Ghana lives in Greater Accra and Eastern Region respectively. Confirm your project location with coordinator. Volunteers live in shared rooms. Couples are adviced to inform us in advance. The rooms have comfortable beds with pillows so no need to bring sleeping bags. There is fan. The volunteer apartment has kitchen with fridge. Toilet and shower facility available.

VPWA do not charge to provide below service 

· Application processing, interviews, pre-departure information and administrative works prior to arrival.

· Placement

. 24/7 Emergency support.

· Orientation prior to beginning of work

. Airport pick-up only

Please note below services might be offered base on availability

· Basic TWI language orientation

· Mobile phone SIM card number sent to you so you can inform family and friend’s your number before arriving in Ghana.

· Use of Internet at VPWA operational Head office.

· Certificate of Recognition for hardworking volunteers and opportunity to serve as VPWA ambassador in your city, college or community.

Health and Safety

Ghana is one of the safest countries in Africa. In the Global Peace Index it is ranked above both the United Kingdom and the US. It is the perfect introduction for first time volunteers to Africa. It has a democratic electoral process and a stable economy. Our team will ensure your health and safety at all times and you'll have emergency support 24/7.

Flights

Volunteers must arrange their own flights to Accra Airport (ACC). Please be aware that you should communicate your arrival date and time to Volunteer Coordinator. The following airlines fly into Accra:

Visa

You must obtain a volunteer visa for travel to Ghana. Once you have secured your place in the project and made deposit. We will send you a letter confirming your placement for your visa application.
