Sports and Fitness Volunteering Project

VPWA is running an After-School Sports project for talented young people in GA West Municipal area in Soccer/football. The idea for this project is to engage these young people in an activity that builds their physical strength while harnessing their talents and also getting them to understand issues related to HIV AIDs and other sexually transmitted diseases. The Project, the first of it kind in the GA West Municipal Area by an organization has helped young people under the project to be discipline and role models in their various homes.

Volunteers shall work with the young people from 3:30pm to 7pm from Tuesday-Friday and occasional community soccer challenges on weekends.

 

Requirements:

· At least age 18 (no maximum age limit);


· Good knowledge in English language
· Strong commitment to values and principles of volunteerism;
· Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
· Ability to adjust in difficult living conditions;
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

. Must be able to work independently without supervision

Physical Trainer

 

Do you want to share your skills in training soccer players in Africa on their physique? Teach new physical training skills? Do not hesitate to join us through out the year to share your time with our project.

Are you able to coach a team? Able to coach and train Goal keepers? VPWA After School Sports project requires your assistance in sharing your skills with the players under our project

Health Assistant

 

Health of the players is very important and this we want to engage someone to help them with first aid when they have problems on the field of play and training. You will be required to also assist them to identify the right nutritional food for their wellbeing. Education on HIV AIDs and Reproductive Health Issues is an important part of this project and this is the responsibility of the Project Health Assistant.

Accommodation:

 

Volunteers working on VPWA projects in Accra lives in our house in Pokuase (north of Accra). Depending on number of volunteers at a time, a volunteer might share room with another person. Maximum of 2 persons per room is allowed. Couples are advice to inform us in advance. The rooms have comfortable beds with pillows so no need to bring sleeping bags. The volunteer apartment has kitchen with fridge. Toilet and shower facility available.

Flights

Volunteers must arrange their own flights to Accra Airport (ACC). Please be aware that you should communicate your arrival date and time to Volunteer Coordinator. The following airlines fly into Accra:

Visa

You must obtain a volunteer visa for travel to Ghana. Once you have secured your place in the project and made deposit. We will send you a letter confirming your placement for your visa application.
