Becoming a VPWA volunteer

 As a part of our activities, VPWA opens up opportunities for diverse groups of peoples including students, graduates, professional women and men to serve as VPWA volunteers and contribute to the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – a set of time-bound targets to combat poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women.  

The VPWA programme recruits a great diversity of talents and offer these opportunities to:

Professionals from various sectors and from any country who want to share their expertise with counterparts in a developing country (Ghana).  Apply

Requirements and Benefits
 
Basic Requirements 

Since VPWA started recruiting volunteers in to the West African country of Ghana, volunteers have played more key roles in delivering development efforts. To become a VPWA volunteer one should fulfil the following minimum requirements:
 
· At least age 18 (no maximum age limit);
· Appreciable knowledge in English language
· Strong commitment to values and principles of volunteerism;
· Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
· Ability to adjust in difficult living conditions;
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
. Be ready to pay to cover your accommodation and meals in Ghana


Benefits

Benefits are, in principle, not measured in monetary terms determined by any forces. Foremost is the personal and professional satisfaction the assignment should bring to you, the VPWA volunteer.

In return for your service, you will receive the following services at no fee:

  • Application processing, interview and pre-departure information and all administrative works to prepare for your arrival at Kotoka International Airport-Accra
  • Airport Pick Up and drop off 
  • Placement
  • 24 hour support contact services
  • Orientation prior to beginning of work
  • Mobile phone SIM card number sent to you so you can inform family and friend’s your number before arriving in Ghana.
  • Accra City tour on arrival
  • Use of Internet at VPWA operational Head office.(Could be slow so don't put so much hope please!)
  • Certificate of Recognition and an opportunity to serve as VPWA ambassador in your city, college or community.
