Hayford Siaw

Founder & Director

Email: hayford(a)vpwa.org

As a child, Hayford traveled and lived in different parts of Ghana due to the nature of his father's job. He experienced living in some of the remotest communities of the country as well as cities. As an educated young man working in the city in later years, he often reminded himself of the vast disparity existing in the country and was determined to contribute his quota to the development of marginalized communities.

To achieve his vision, he founded VPWA with his own resources in 2007 and nurtured the organisation until 2010, when the non profit started to raise external resources to run as an independent charity. Though Hayford was running a successful enterprise involved in Real Estate and Tourism sector, he quit to develop VPWA. Today, VPWA is a successful organisation working with over 100 International Volunteers annually on development projects.

He engineered VPWA's sustainable funding models to sustain its operations, and his innovations are currently being implemented in Liberia, Cameroon, Mozambique, and Malawi. Hayford has extensively traveled across the world and is often invited to moderate or speak at International Conferences on issues related to the Social benefit sector and Entrepreneurship.  Hayford was selected  Change Leader of Reach for Change in 2012, as well a Ford Motors International fellow in 2015. He is the recipient of the 15th Commonwealth Point of Light award by Queen Elizabeth II.

In 2017, the President of Ghana appointed Hayford Siaw as the Chief Executive of the Ghana Library Authority.  He also serves on the Board of several non profit and government institutions.
