About Us

Volunteer Partnerships for West Africa (VPWA) is a volunteer-driven NGO established in 2007 and based in Ghana. It aims to improve opportunities for people in underprivileged communities through better education, health, sanitation, and sustainable development, aligning its efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

VPWA runs a range of projects relying on support from volunteers worldwide. Its varied work supports the principles of the UN Global Compact and aims to fulfill the SDGs. VPWA projects aim to lift people out of poverty by:

- Promoting Quality Education (SDG 4)**: Reducing illiteracy and improving educational opportunities.

- Promoting Good Governance and Human Rights (SDG 16)**: Supporting peace, justice, and strong institutions.

- Advancing Energy and Environmental Policies (SDG 7, SDG 13)**: Ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy while combating climate change.

- Building Skills and Providing Micro-Finance (SDG 1, SDG 8)**: Helping individuals and communities fight poverty through business training and financial support.

- Fighting the Spread of Diseases (SDG 3)**: Educating communities and policymakers on preventing diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and Buruli ulcers.

You can support VPWA's valuable projects in West Africa in three different ways: by becoming a volunteer on a VPWA project, partnering with VPWA through sponsorship, or making a donation towards one of VPWA's projects.
