Empowering women

Empowering women in Africa is a key part of many of VPWA's projects, such as those concerning Human Rights, HIV/AIDS and Micro-finance. These are all projects which help African women overcome challenges and become financially independent. If you are interested in empowering African women you can volunteer as part of the microfinance programme which takes place in Ofankor, Pokuase and Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, and in Santrokofi-Bume in Volta Region of Ghana.  You will assist local women in the running of their small businesses as they seek economic emancipation. This is a great opportunity to support women who are developing their businesses and fighting to get a share of their local economy. Presently, under this project, volunteers work directly with VPWA Microfinance beneficiaries assisting them in the day to day running of their small enterprises.
